Gillie and Marc’s King Nyani
How do you remove, transport, and store the world’s largest gorilla sculpture (weighing 8,000 pounds)?
To remove Gillie and Marc’s King Nyani from it’s @hudsonyards installation site we used a remote controlled Fassi 1100 knuckle boom crane on a triple axle International chassis. We then transported it to our climate-controlled storage facility. After a bit, King Nyani was on the move again to Asteroid’s Facility near Philadelphia. -

Featuring two altered human figures, each missing the ¼ part of their upper torso, the work alludes to humanity’s shared joy, sorrow, and regeneration from the world’s military conflicts and, in particular, to the ¼ population loss in the artist’s native homeland. Tanda Francis’s piece Adorn Me
Artmax had the privilege of installing artist Tanda Francis’s piece ‘Adorn Me’ at Fort Greene Park. “Her latest piece was made to show the “merging of cultures” around the park by using types of adornments from different cultures on the sculpture. “I seek to address the demographic of people of African descent who are often underrepresented in public art, especially in terms of the current historic artwork featured in and around Fort Greene Park.

We wanted to share our work with Zaq Landsberg’s “Reclining Liberty.” After the outdoor exhibition Morningside Park in Manhattan, it was brought to our Artmax facility to have the patina clear-coated. It was then delivered and installed at to MoCa Arlington.
